Where: CAS Research Center, 1st Flr. CAS L-shaped Bldg.
Instructions:
1. Type your answers to the following questions using Microsoft Word.
2. Insert a page number at top right corner. In the same header, type your name on the left corner, your course and block opposite it, "POLSCI QUIZ I" below your name and the date of submission below your course and block. Like so:

POLSCI Quiz I January 10, 2014
pg. 1
3. Do not copy the questions. Simply write your answer for each number. Example:
1. The first definition relates to the second definition in that.... (so on and so forth)
2. Politics is __________________ while governance is _______. In the Philippines..... (etc.)
4. Try to be as direct to the point and brief with your answers. Long answers that do not make any sense will tend to have lower grades. (See rubrics/criteria below, after the questions)
5. Print your work on a short bond paper and submit it to me on or before the deadline.
Reminders: Each question is worth 5 points.
Plagiarized work will, of course, fail.
Questions:
1. How are the four definitions, cited by the author, related to each other?
2. How does politics differ from governance? Cite a specific example in the Philippine setting.
3. Analyze this:
You went for a cruise on a ship one summer with other students from different schools. During a horrific storm, the ship sank. You and 14 other people drifted ashore to a small secluded island. None of the teachers or ship's crew survived. You and these 14 teenagers are left to fend for yourself. One of them was severely injured.
You have very limited resources because the island is small. There are a few animals such as birds and small land animals; and many coconut and banana trees. However, there are no rivers or lakes. There is no bodies of fresh water around.
Considering the concepts from the reading with regards to politics and governance, how do you think you and the 14 other students will deal with the situation? What do you think will happen in the first day alone? How should the group deal with the severely injured student and the scarce resources?
Use the terms in the reading in answering the questions.
