We're all students from the moment we are born. The act of learning how to walk, to talk, to eat... essentially the things that make us and maintain us as human beings are a product of the role of human beings as students -- learning either through personal actions or through others.
In fact, our role as students become more apparent as we grow older. We go through Kindergarten, elementary school, high school, college and graduate school. Learning becomes visibly an integral part of society and of humanity -- for the complex ways in which we learn are unique to us.
However, even after knowing its significance, we continuously fail to put our best efforts forward.
The amount of students who failed my class and who had a grade of INC this semester reached a record high. Undoubtedly, the fault falls between my students and to me, for ultimately I decide their fate. But that decision is based on the performances in class, the attitude and attendance, and in this case the projects and papers submitted.
As stated in the homepage of this website and as I have mentioned more than once before, I am person greatly offended by the act of plagiarism.
Plagiarism is an intellectual crime. You are robbing others of their ideas and yourselves the opportunity to learn and develop your ideas; and most of all, it is an insult to my powers of deduction. For you to assume, that I will not recognize that your paper is plagiarized allows me to believe that you find me ignorant or that I'm lazy and do not read your papers.
Ladies and gentlemen, students... I will let the College hold my salary if I have to for submitting my grades late, if that is what it takes to ensure that I get every plagiarized paper submitted.
All I ask is that you allow yourselves to be exceptional students--not that you write eloquent papers but that you write themselves, divulging your opinions and inner thoughts.
Be true students and let this serve as a lesson to all.
